I have had a passion for fine art since childhood. Upon graduation with honours from the Beal School of Art in London, Ontario, my career path took me into television news. Forty-two years were spent in television behind and in front of the camera. Throughout those years, cartooning and illustrating remained an important part of my life. At the age of sixty, I started painting full-time, primarily using acrylic paint. My canvases are bold and colourful, often humorous, always telling a story. I am an associate member of the Society of Canadian Artists as well as their Publicity Chair, a member of the Kingston School of Art, and a founding member of the Kingston Arts and Letters Club. My paintings are in various private collections throughout Canada, Germany and the United States. One of my paintings has been accepted into the Royal Military College of Canada. "If you ask me what I came to do in this world, I, an artist, will answer you: I am here to live out loud." (Emile Zola)

The arts have been of interest to me as long as I can remember. I began visiting galleries and museums in Berlin, Germany, at a very young age, dragged along by my aunt, an art historian. My formal education includes a Bachelors of Art in Psychology from York University in Toronto, Ontario. I have attended art classes at the Kingston School of Art, Loyalist College in Belleville, and participated in many workshops with noted artists. A few years ago, painting became a full-time passion. I am a regular at a Friday afternoon painting class with artist Shirley Miller of Amherst Island and attend weekly life drawing classes. Reading, learning, and experimenting with ideas is part of my process. My canvases often go through various layers of paint, creating texture, until the final piece has come into its own. Living on beautiful Amherst Island, located at the head of the St. Lawrence River with its interplay of light and colour, is truly inspirational. My artwork reflects my love for nature. Attempting to paint light and interpret nature intrigues and fascinates me. My medium of choice is acrylic, but watercolour, pastels, and oils are also giving me interesting challenges. My work is in private collections throughout Ontario. I am a member of the Kingston School of Art as well as an Associate member of The Society of Canadian Artists.
